According to the Met Office, Saturday will be cloudier with rain confined to higher ground, but brighter spells will develop in the late afternoon, making it feel warm. The maximum temperature is expected to be 22°C. The report added: 'High pressure continues to build through the weekend, becoming increasingly settled. Temperatures will climb day by day, feeling very warm in the sunshine.'
Potential Heatwave Next Week
The Met Office stated that heatwave thresholds are likely to be reached in at least some southern and eastern parts of the UK next week. However, temperatures are unlikely to match the intensity of late June or feature the same humidity levels. The key difference is the air source: with high pressure positioned further west, westerly winds will keep temperatures below extremes and humidity lower.

The hottest June day in UK history (37.7°C) was measured at Lingwood in Norfolk on Friday June 26.
