Finland's Eurovision 2026 entrants Linda Lampenius and Pete Parkkonen have disclosed the emotional story behind their song 'Liekinheitin', which translates to 'flamethrower' in English. The duo, who are among the early favourites, will perform in the first semi-final tonight on BBC One.
In an interview with The Independent, the Finnish pair described the track as 'deep and sad'. They explained that the song is about a person who lets someone fall in love with them but then turns 'ice cold' when they get too close. The protagonist can be seen either as a victim or as someone addicted to relationships that never evolve.
Linda Lampenius is a classical violinist who has performed since the age of eight and is the subject of the award-winning autobiography and docu-series 'My Untamed Life'. Pete Parkkonen rose to fame on Finland's 'Idols' in 2008 and later won 'Dancing With The Stars' in 2014.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 is being held in Vienna at the Wiener Stadhalle, following Austria's victory last year with JJ's 'Wasted Love'. Tonight's semi-final sees 15 nations competing for 10 places in the grand final this weekend.
