A family from Godalming, Surrey, is fundraising to take their four-year-old daughter to Disneyland Paris to meet Elsa from Frozen before she loses her eyesight. Dave and Zoe Birch first noticed a 'lazy eye' in their daughter Brooke in February 2024, but after months of tests, she was diagnosed with a low-grade glioma brain tumour in November 2025.
Brooke is currently five months into a 70-week chemotherapy plan. While an MRI in March showed the tumour had not changed, doctors have told the family that Brooke will eventually lose all vision in her left eye due to the tumour pressing on a nerve.
The family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to create 'special memories', including a trip to Disneyland Paris. Dave Birch, a scaffolder, said: 'We've just about got enough money for the bills we need to pay but we've got no money to make memories with the children.'
Brooke's mother Zoe added: 'We were told this is going to affect her life. She can't be certain things like a pilot as her eye has badly deteriorated.' The family hopes to give Brooke the chance to meet her favourite character before her sight deteriorates further.
