Chelsea are weighing up a move for Jarrod Bowen, with West Ham United under pressure to sell their star player following relegation from the Premier League.
Interest in Bowen
The club have been monitoring the 29-year-old for some time, particularly due to a recognition that they could benefit from more leadership in the dressing room. Bowen's versatility in attack would also provide Chelsea with a range of options. However, Chelsea are not the only suitors for the winger, with several other clubs reportedly considering a move.
Potential Deal
There is a belief that Bowen could be secured on a value deal, especially as he holds one of West Ham's larger contracts now that they are in the Championship. The feeling is that the east London club need to sell. While West Ham would ideally want around £50 million, industry figures believe competing clubs will attempt to negotiate a deal for approximately £40 million.
Bowen's Impact at West Ham
Bowen has been one of West Ham's standout modern players, having served as captain and scored the decisive 90th-minute goal in their 2-1 Conference League final victory over Fiorentina in Prague back in 2023. That triumph ended the club's 43-year trophy drought. West Ham's 14-year stay in the top flight ended despite a 3-0 final-day win over Leeds, as it was insufficient to overhaul Tottenham in a miserable season.
Apology to Fans
Following relegation, Bowen apologised to supporters on Instagram, stating: "It's hard to post something like this when all you're feeling is embarrassment and pain. I could write loads trying to explain where it all went wrong this season, but honestly what you deserve from me is an apology. Winning that trophy in Prague was the best night of my career. Sunday was the worst. We just weren't good enough. Simple as that. And that's why the season ended the way it did."
