A dad on a budget booked the cheapest half board holiday he could find in Europe this month — only to end up somewhere he promised never to return to after describing it as “hell on earth”.
The content creator, known as Just Deano, set off from Manchester Airport where he revealed that he paid £180 to stay four nights in a hotel abroad. He added: “What’s that? Like £45 a night for breakfast, evening meal and a bed. Let’s see how bad this could be or how good — this was an absolute steal.”
However, he then disclosed where he would be going, and said: “The only problem with it is… it’s in Benidorm. But beggars can’t be choosers even though I did say I wouldn’t come back here. I have had a lot of conversations with a lot of people and maybe I got it wrong. So, this week we’re going to find out because I’m going to do it totally different.”
The YouTuber repeatedly acknowledged that he never thought he would go back after a miserable experience in December. During that visit, his first to the Spanish holiday hotspot, he claimed he suffered an unprovoked attack on the strip and was offered drugs on several occasions. He also said it was too dangerous to film there. The dad, who is from Huddersfield, ended up labelling it a “crime ridden hell hole” before vowing never to go back to the "absolutely awful place”.
However, after landing in Benidorm again this month, he explained that he would not be going to the strip after dark, after being told it was unsafe to do so if you were travelling alone. Instead, he enjoyed a drink there while the sun was shining, before leaving. He said the cheapest half board he could find in Europe ended up being Hotel Camposol in the Old Town which is just 350 yards from the centre of Benidorm and 700 metres from Poniente Beach.
After arriving, he again reiterated that £180 for four nights was an “insane deal”, before revealing his return flights from Manchester Airport were £140, meaning the entire trip was £320. He said the room was basic but that the bed was comfy and the shower was “fantastic”. His food during his stay was hit and miss but overall he had a much more pleasant experience — especially given the price.
He concluded: “Food not the best. Is this the best half board ever? Probably not. Hotel not really the best one, pool, not in the sun, no sun loungers, evening entertainment — not my cup of tea. The location though? Fantastic. Lots of you guys know I’m not the biggest, haven’t been the biggest Benidorm fan, but I’ve actually had a good week this week.”
After posting his different experience this time, in a video you can watch in full here, one comment read: “I'm so glad you are giving Benidorm another chance, hopefully you will have a cracking time this time.” Another said: “Made up you went back to Benidorm mate. I love the place, I have had bad experiences too but it's the same everywhere.”
