Casemiro has shared his honest opinion on who might succeed him at Manchester United, expressing confidence in three Real Madrid stars. The Brazilian midfielder is set to depart Old Trafford after the final match of the season against Brighton, ending a four-year stint with the club.
Casemiro's Praise for Potential Successors
Casemiro arrived at Manchester United following a highly successful period at Real Madrid, where he won every major trophy, including five Champions League titles. Now at 34, he believes the next generation of midfielders at Madrid are well-equipped to take over his role. The three players he endorsed are Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, and Federico Valverde.
These three talents have been linked with moves to Manchester United to fill the void left by Casemiro. Valverde, in particular, is considered an outsider at Madrid after a training-ground altercation with Tchouameni. Reports suggest club officials are frustrated with the 27-year-old and may consider selling him in the summer. However, firm links between United and Valverde are yet to emerge, and his transfer fee is expected to be high given his contract runs until 2029.
Casemiro's Endorsement of Valverde
Casemiro is convinced that Valverde would be a good fit for United, recalling his earlier remarks about the Uruguayan's talent. Speaking after leaving Madrid in 2022, Casemiro said: "Real Madrid always signs the best players. Fede can do this job, and he's a player with 10 or 12 years ahead of him. Four or five years ago, I was saying we had one of the best midfields in the world. Fede can play as a defensive midfielder."
Camavinga and Tchouameni Also Targets
Camavinga is another player Madrid might be willing to sell, having featured less prominently recently. United have been linked with the France international, who was omitted from his nation's World Cup squad. Tchouameni has also been touted for a move to Old Trafford, with Manchester City potentially playing a key role. Madrid are reportedly interested in City midfielder Rodri, who has just over a year left on his contract and has hinted at a possible move to Spain.
If Rodri joins Madrid, it could pave the way for United to sign Tchouameni. Casemiro previously praised the French duo, saying: "Camavinga showed us last year that he can be a fantastic player. Tchouameni is a player who is well-known at this club; he's a starter for the French national team. Real Madrid is in good shape and has good players."
Price Tag for Potential Replacements
All three United targets have earned Casemiro's approval, but any transfer would come at a significant cost. According to Transfermarkt, their combined value is £212 million. United will need to weigh their options carefully as they look to rebuild their midfield.
