Bruno Guimaraes has described it as a 'privilege' to be tipped as Casemiro's successor, with Manchester United reportedly considering a £69million move for the Newcastle United captain. The Brazil international is preparing for the World Cup 2026 opener against Morocco, where both midfielders could feature.

Casemiro, 33, has previously praised Guimaraes, calling him 'a great player' who has done an 'exceptional job' at Newcastle. The five-time Champions League winner's comments have fuelled speculation that Guimaraes could replace him at Old Trafford after Casemiro's departure this summer.

Guimaraes, 28, told AS: 'It's certainly a privilege to hear those words from someone as successful as Casemiro. Honestly, I'm not thinking about that right now. My focus is entirely on this World Cup.' He added that his aim is to help Brazil win the tournament.

United are also linked with West Ham's Mateus Fernandes, Bournemouth's Alex Scott, and Atalanta's Ederson, with a £39million deal for the latter reportedly close. Newcastle's financial struggles may force them to sell, despite wanting to keep their captain.
