As Britain experiences another heatwave, M&S shoppers are rushing to try what they claim is the 'wine of the summer.' The retailer's new British sparkling red wine, crafted by Balfour Winery, has been dubbed the 'perfect wine for summer' and pairs perfectly with barbecues, salads, and even Eton mess.
A Summer Favourite
Among the most sought-after summer beverages, particularly for wine enthusiasts, is a chilled bottle of prosecco or other fizzy wines. Available from bone-dry through to sweet varieties, it derives its bubbles from trapped carbon dioxide created during natural fermentation. While only wines from France's Champagne region can legally use the Prosecco name, exceptional sparkling wines are crafted worldwide. One reason for its summer popularity is how well it pairs with lighter summer fare, including salads or BBQs.

They continued: Our Red Diamond Strawberry Royale celebrates the best of British super sweet Red Diamond Strawberries with English Sparkling Wine, crafted by the award-winning Balfour Winer.
On their website, the retailer explains that its tangy yet creamy flavour profile complements most types of summer fare, from fresh seasonal salads, as an aperitif, or served alongside your favourite summer puddings, such as an Eton Mess or strawberries and cream.
A 75cl bottle of M&S's Red Diamond Strawberry Royale is currently priced at £15 on Ocado, though costs may differ at your nearest M&S Foodhall.
