Mrs Biggs, the acclaimed ITV drama starring Sheridan Smith, is set to leave Netflix on August 7. With only days remaining, subscribers who haven't seen the series are being urged to catch it before it's gone.
The five-part show, first aired in 2012, is based on the true story of Charmian Biggs, the wife of Great Train Robber Ronnie Biggs. It tells the aftermath of the 1963 heist and Ronnie's escape from prison through Charmian's eyes, as she tries to hold the family together.
Award-winning performance
Sheridan Smith's portrayal earned her the 2013 BAFTA Television Award for Best Actress. Daniel Mays plays Ronnie Biggs, with Jay Simpson as Bruce Reynolds, the mastermind behind the robbery. In the storyline, financial troubles prompt Ronnie to ask Reynolds for a loan.
The real Great Train Robbery involved a gang of 15 led by Reynolds, who attacked a Glasgow-to-London train after tampering with the signals. They made off with more than £2.61 million.
What fans say
Reviews on IMDb and Letterboxd have been glowing. One IMDb user wrote: "Compelling. I couldn't stop watching." Another praised the show for not romanticising its subject and for making "the motivations of all the characters seem absolutely authentic."
On Letterboxd, one fan simply described it as "perfect", while another called it "brilliant".
The real Charmian Biggs served as a consultant on the series, flying from Australia to Britain in February 2012 ahead of filming to meet Sheridan Smith.
