Love Island Final Twist Reduces Final Couples to Three
Love Island Final Twist Reduces Final Couples to Three

Love Island has seen its first ever final twist, with the usual four couples reduced to three. In Sunday's penultimate episode, former Islanders returned to the Majorcan villa and voted Mica Harris, 21, and Samraj Toor, 25, as the weakest couple. They received eight votes out of 18, leaving the villa. However, they then received a shock text giving them power to choose another couple to leave with them, meaning only three couples will compete in Monday night's final, a first in Love Island history.

Dumped Islanders Vote Mica and Samraj as Weakest

The dumped contestants were asked which couple they felt least deserved a place in the final. After a heated discussion, Mica and Samraj were chosen by Tommy, Robyn, Ethan, Elicia, Finley, Halle, Jordon, and Martha, picking up eight votes out of a total of 18. As they were in the bedroom speaking about their journey, they received a shock text revealing that their exit wasn't the last of the drama. They were told they would have the power to choose another pair to leave the villa alongside them, meaning only three couples would make it to the final.

Power Twist Sparks Viewer Backlash

The twist did not go down well with viewers, who flooded X, formerly known as Twitter, to hit out at the decision. One user wrote: "I actually hate when the Islanders get the decision," while another said: "Producers are pathetic for that plot twist. Not even a gag just unnecessary." A third fumed: "This plot twist is absolute bu***hit, producers don't give a f**k about the public opinion." Another viewer stated: "They've done this final week so poorly it's a joke. why are we having drama the day of the final???? i'm so tired." A fifth user argued: "It makes zero sense to give Samraj and Mica a say in who reaches the final when the public has repeatedly voted them into the bottom. The logic just isn't there..." The dramatic twist means viewers will have to wait until the final episode to find out which couples make it through. The Love Island final will air tonight on ITV2 at 9pm.
