Organizers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics have announced the sale of over four million tickets during the initial release this month, signaling robust demand more than two years before the opening ceremony. The first ticket release saw 95 per cent of tickets priced under $100 sold during a presale for residents of the Los Angeles and Oklahoma City areas. Additionally, about 500,000 tickets priced at $28 were purchased by local buyers.
Global Demand and Top Sports
Demand for tickets was global, with sales recorded in 85 countries and all 50 US states and territories. The United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, and Japan emerged as the leading international markets. Notably, women's Olympic sessions sold at a higher rate than men's, artistic gymnastics was the fastest-selling sport, and newly added sports like flag football, lacrosse, softball, and squash completely sold out.
Next Ticket Release and Complaints
Registration is now open until 22 July for the second ticket draw, with sales scheduled for August 2026. However, some residents have raised concerns about high prices, additional fees, and limited availability during the initial presale. Despite these complaints, organizers hailed the demand as 'historic,' emphasizing the widespread enthusiasm for the Games.
