Karen Gillan has shared behind-the-scenes footage from the set of the upcoming fourth series of the hit Apple TV show Shrinking. The Scots star, 38, will make her debut in the comedy-drama, which stars Harrison Ford and Jason Segel and is expected to premiere next year.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday, the Jumanji actress posted a video of herself on set in a blue car with cameras pointed at the vehicle. The camera pans round to Segel, 46, who sarcastically pulls a shocked facial expression as Gillan asks him: "Are you so excited?" He replies: "Yeah I love acting."
She also shared a selfie of the pair, wearing dark sunglasses and holding tissue paper framed around her nose and cheeks.
Role kept under wraps
Gillan's new role in the show has been kept strictly under wraps by the production team, but her arrival coincides with a planned time jump and a fresh storyline which moves past the core three-season arc of grief, forgiveness, and moving on.
Segel plays the leading role of Jimmy, a grieving therapist struggling through the death of his wife. Frustrated by traditional shrink methods, he begins breaking ethical boundaries by giving his patients brutally honest, unfiltered advice, which sparks massive, chaotic changes in both their lives and his own. Harrison Ford plays his stricter, no-nonsense senior therapist colleague.
Critical acclaim and release details
Shrinking first debuted on Apple TV in January 2023, with creator Bill Lawrence shocking fans when he announced a fourth season with a significant time jump. Across all three seasons so far, Shrinking boasts an incredible Rotten Tomatoes score of between 91 and 97 per cent.
Reviewing the latest series, which came out earlier this year, one fan wrote: "I thought it was excellent - best season yet. The comedy beats are strong, and the heartfelt moments had real impact. It's a nice bow on the 3 season arc." Another echoed: "Wonderful show bring another season."
The highly-anticipated fourth season will consist of 12 episodes, but a release date has not yet been confirmed. The entire Season 1, 2 and 3 of Shrinking are available to stream on Apple TV now.
