Emmerdale actor Lawrence Robb, known for playing Mackenzie Boyd, has been confirmed for the Strictly Come Dancing 2026 line-up, sparking speculation about his future on the ITV soap.
The actor expressed his excitement about joining the show, but the announcement comes amid a turbulent time for his character, who is a suspect in the upcoming murder of Dr Todd.
Murder storyline and exit rumours
Mack is currently implicated in the future killing of villain Dr Todd, with recent scenes showing him threatening her. A brief flashforward clip also depicted her death, but the details remain unclear.
Dr Todd returns to the soap this week, and with Strictly's demanding schedule, questions arise about whether Mack might exit the show. However, as far as is known, Mack is not leaving the Dales, and no confirmation has been made by the show or the actor.
Contract restrictions and other soap stars
Previously, soap cast members faced contract restrictions preventing outside projects, but these no longer apply, so Lawrence can participate in Strictly without leaving Emmerdale. The main challenge would be rehearsal time and filming in London.
Dr Todd's murder follows her dark storylines earlier this year, including blackmailing Mack's wife Charity Dingle over her baby lie and sexually assaulting Charity. Mack has supported Charity, and fans are also wondering if Vanessa Woodfield, who knows about Todd's actions, could be the killer.
Lawrence is not the only soap star on this year's Strictly line-up, with EastEnders' Lacey Turner also confirmed. More names are yet to be announced.
