Flo Wilson, who plays Emmerdale's Claudette Anderson, is married to Coronation Street actor John Smeathers. The couple have kept their relationship largely out of the public eye.
Wilson, 63, has played Claudette since 2023, with storylines including the death of her grandson Ethan (Emile John) and clashes with villagers. She has recently been involved in an unlikely connection with Kev Barton (Chris Coghill), a former prisoner returning to the village to build a relationship with his son Lewis (Bradley Riches) – to the dismay of Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) and Ross Barton (Michael Parr).
Emmerdale is not Wilson's first role in the Dales. She previously appeared as Nurse Bradshaw more than a decade ago, caring for Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell) during a hospital stay after a breakdown.
A shared history on the cobbles
John Smeathers first appeared in Coronation Street in 2018 as a clergyman at St Luke's Church who presided over the funeral of Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward) following the character's suicide storyline.
Flo has also had several roles on the cobbles. She played childminder Kerry Matthews in 1998, a nurse at Weatherfield General in 2008 and 2009, and midwife Claire Hinton in 2014.
Age revelation
The couple's private life stayed under the radar, but fans were recently taken aback to learn that Wilson is only 10 years older than Kevin Mathurin, 53, who plays her on-screen son Charles Anderson.
One fan wrote on Reddit: "Kevin Mathurin, who plays Charles, is 53. Flo Wilson, who plays his mum Claudette, is 63. My mind is blown at how young Claudette is in real life. Flo is actually YOUNGER than Claire King (Kim Tate! )."
Another commented: "If it wasn't for her sour faced expressions, and the head scarf with wisps of grey hair sticking out of it, there's no way Claudette would look old enough to be Charles' mother. You can practically see the actress's real hair trying to make a run for it through the scarf in certain scenes. Don't get me wrong, I like her character. Just not how the wardrobe and make-up department make her look like someone who's been transported from the 1950's."
