A BBC Breakfast clip from 2022 has resurfaced online, sparking reactions from viewers who described Naga Munchetty's comments as "outrageous."
During a report from an ice cream factory in Nantwich, business correspondent Hannah Miller tasted fresh samples, insisting: "It's definitely not too early." She then added to hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt: "I bet you wish you were here now."
Munchetty's Blunt Response
Naga replied: "I don't like ice cream, Hannah." A stunned Hannah said: "You don't like ice cream?!" Naga continued: "If I had to eat an ice cream for the rest of my life, it would be pistachio flavour but I don't like cold food."
She also said she does not like brownies "so much" after home-made brownies were used as an ingredient. Hannah responded: "I won't be bringing brownies into the office then." Naga admitted: "Don't let me deny the rest of the office."
Stayt's Reaction
As the camera returned to the studio, Charlie playfully chastised Naga: "I think you rather brought the tone down." Naga hit back: "Oh be quiet," before laughing and issuing an apology. Charlie added: "Hannah is working hard, doing a story, and then…" before moving on to the headlines.
One person shared the clip on Reddit, admitting it "lives rent free in my head." They said: "Did anyone see this live? The segment/story about ice cream itself is innocuous, but Munchetty's response seems so cringe, and with Stayt's reaction it almost feels like an outtake/parody even in the world of breakfast television. The outrageousness is probably why this clip still lingers in my consciousness."
