Abandoned Newborn Kitten Found Cuddling Dead Sibling Seeks UK Home

A two-day-old kitten is desperately searching for a new home after being cruelly abandoned alongside her littermates. The tiny feline, named Minky, was still attached to her umbilical cord when she was discarded like rubbish and left to fend for herself on the streets of Greece.

Heartbreaking Discovery

Rescuers from Greek Stray ResQ found the helpless kitten cuddled up beside her dead siblings, desperately trying to stay warm. Sharing the emotional story online, one rescuer explained: "She should have been with her mother. Instead, she is fighting to survive. Right now, Minky needs round-the-clock care - feeding every two to three hours, day and night. Without it… she won’t make it."

Sadly, Minky’s story is far from unique, as "kitten season" has now begun across Greece. With huge numbers of unsterilised stray and semi-stray cats, thousands of kittens are born into dangerous conditions every year. The rescue organisation noted: "Many are abandoned. Many don’t survive. Those who are found rely entirely on volunteers - people who step in to bottle-feed, provide warmth, cover vet costs and do everything possible to keep them alive."

A Future in the UK

While Minky is currently too young to travel, it is hoped she will eventually find a loving forever home in the UK once she is strong enough. For now, the rescue is focused on keeping her alive alongside four other vulnerable kittens named Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore and Roo, who were rescued in similar circumstances.

Appealing for support, the rescue added: "The reality is simple - saving lives like these comes at a cost. Milk formula, food, vet care, medication and endless hours of care. If you can, please consider donating to help us continue saving these fragile lives. And if you may be interested in adopting in the coming weeks, please get in touch. Even a small contribution can mean the difference between life and death because they don’t stand a chance without us."

Public Reaction

Commenting on the emotional rescue story, one person wrote: "Poor little soul… thank you for saving her." Another added: "This image is so powerful. I think all the emotions are felt here - sadness, awe, disappointment and hope. Thank you for being the one person who did not look away."
