Wroxham Travel, a Norfolk-based independent travel agency that opened in 1987, has ceased trading and entered administration, officially closing on October 30.
The firm sold European holidays to destinations including Greece, Portugal, Italy and Spain, as well as longer-haul trips to Bali, Barbados, Thailand and Mauritius. Its offers ranged from short getaways and city breaks to longer trips and cruises.
ABTA issues customer guidance
The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) has described the development as a "financial failure" and issued advice to travellers who booked through the agency. The statement from ABTA read: "We are sorry to inform you that Wroxham Travel has ceased trading with effect from 30 October 2026. We are now treating this as a financial failure. If you had booked travel arrangements with Wroxham Travel, you should follow the advice set out below."
Customers who booked a holiday through Wroxham Travel are advised to contact the credit control department of the tour operator or principal travel business named on their paperwork, or on their ATOL certificate if it was a flight-inclusive holiday. The statement added that bookings should continue as normal and that customers should keep all documentation, as the operator may require information from it.
Recent travel industry closures
The company operated two offices, one in Hoveton and one in Aylsham, both in Norfolk. The news follows the closure of Barnes Worldwide Travel Ltd, a Liverpool-based independent travel agent that ceased trading in September after 19 years in business, providing holidays to New York, Las Vegas, Egypt, Greece and Cyprus.
Golf Villa Rentals Ltd, based in Seaford, East Sussex, also stopped trading in August. The firm specialised in golf package holidays worldwide, providing accommodation in villas and apartments for both small and large groups.
