Wetherspoon Breakfast Hack Sparks Debate Over Missing Items

A man's money-saving tip for ordering breakfast at Wetherspoon has divided opinion online, with critics pointing out that the hack results in a very different meal. The tip, shared on Instagram by user vanlifetothelux, suggests ordering two breakfast muffins instead of a large breakfast to save money and get free drinks.

In the video, the man explains that a large breakfast costs £6.19 and includes no drink, while a breakfast muffin costs £2.99 and comes with a free drink. By ordering two muffins, he claims you get the same protein elements—sausage, bacon, and egg—plus two free drinks for £5.98, or £6.08 with a pint upgrade, undercutting the large breakfast by 11p. However, commenters noted that the actual total is £6.18, a saving of just 1p, and that prices vary by location.

The main criticism was that the hack omits key items from the large breakfast, such as baked beans, hash browns, mushrooms, and toast. One commenter said: 'So no beans, mushrooms, or hash browns. And muffins instead of toast. Hardly a hack, it’s very different.' Another added: 'I'd rather just pay and have a breakfast I'm going to enjoy. No way am I going to miss out on the beans, mushrooms, and hash browns to save a few pence!'

Some users were more positive, with one calling it 'a great deal' and another suggesting an alternative hack: ordering a muffin deal plus a freedom breakfast for a more complete meal. A more rogue suggestion involved adding a pint and three sambuca to a large breakfast ordered at 9am.
