A wedding guest was left stunned after cancelling their attendance at the last minute due to illness, only to receive a bill of nearly £200 ($260) from the couple. The guest, who shared their experience on Reddit, said the fee was charged despite them cancelling three days ahead of the event.
The guest explained that they had RSVP'd to attend the wedding but were forced to cancel after coming down with a sickness bug. Rather than risk spreading germs at their friend's special day, they decided to stay home and congratulate the newlyweds from afar. However, they were shocked when the bill arrived.

The guest wrote on Reddit: "Wedding no show late fee from somebody we barely know. Husband received a late fee of $260 because we cancelled 3 days ahead due to being sick. $260 is wild to me especially in this economy. We barely know them too."
Branding the move 'tacky', the guest went on to explain that the groom is a lawyer, which they claimed made the situation even more baffling. They added: "his actions shows me he's a c*** lawyer. I didn't include it in the post but the fee was sent through Venmo."
