Two product recalls have been issued this week, affecting items sold at Amazon and Waitrose. Shoppers are urged to check their purchases after safety warnings were published by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and the Chartered Trading Standards Institute.
The recalls were announced because of a contamination risk in a drink and a potential injury hazard in a coffee table.
Amazon recalls coffee table
The Bera Design Limited Zen Extendable Coffee Table, sold via Amazon, has been recalled due to a risk of injury. The spring-loaded release or adjustment mechanism may activate unexpectedly during unpacking or handling, which could lead to physical injuries. The product also lacks safety information and appropriate warnings, increasing the likelihood of unsafe use.
The recalled table is available in Dark Walnut, Walnut, White, and Silver. Its dimensions are W: 60cm x L: 110cm x H: 15cm, extending to W: 110cm x L: 120cm x H: 15cm, and it is made of MDF. Consumers are advised to take extra precautions when unpacking or handling the product, and the listing has been removed by Amazon.
Waitrose recalls oat drink
Waitrose has recalled its Essential Unsweetened Oat Drink due to a breakdown in temperature control during distribution, which may result in spoilage and make the product unsafe to drink. The recall affects the 1 litre pack size with all best before dates between August 14 2026 and October 29 2026, and items purchased between September 2 2026 and September 21 2026.
Customers who have bought the affected product are advised not to consume it, and to return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) is also responsible for updating the public on these removals.
