Families are being urged to check their Christmas presents and kitchen cupboards for a number of products that have been urgently recalled over safety fears. Trading Standards UK has issued recalls for nine different product lines so far this month, with items sold at stores including Matalan, TK Maxx, Superdrug and several supermarkets.
Among the recalled items are a Matalan Elsa Light Up Jumper in sizes 2-3, which may pose a choking hazard due to small parts for children under three. Matalan has asked customers to return the product for a full refund, with no receipt required. The retailer has also recalled mermaid, shark and unicorn hot water bottles sold between 1 September 2019 and 19 November 2019 over quality and safety concerns.
Superdrug is recalling its B. Hydrated Hyaluronic Acid Spritz after peppermint was mistakenly added to a batch. Customers with an allergy or intolerance to peppermint are advised not to use the product and return it for a refund. The company has launched an investigation into the error.
European Commission notices have also been issued for all scents in the DW wood wick candle range, due to a risk of toxic smoke inhalation that could lead to poisoning or asphyxiation from carbon monoxide exposure. Additionally, Sacla' is recalling various pesto products because they may contain peanuts, which are not mentioned on the label.
Shoppers who have purchased any of these items, or received them as gifts, are urged to stop using them immediately and return them to the point of purchase for a full refund.
