Britons Can Get Up to £200 Free Cash Through Six Bank Switching Deals
Up to £200 Free Cash: Six Bank Switching Deals Available Now

Britons looking to boost their finances could earn up to £200 in free cash by switching their current account, according to the latest analysis from MoneySavingExpert (MSE.com).

The consumer website founded by Martin Lewis has highlighted six leading bank switching deals currently available, with bonuses ranging from £175 to £200 for customers willing to move their everyday banking to a new provider.

While most offers require customers to switch an existing account and meet conditions such as paying in a minimum amount every month or transferring Direct Debits, some also come with additional perks including cashback, high-interest savings accounts and fee-free spending overseas.

Top Switching Deals

MSE.com said First Direct's 1st Account currently tops its list, offering a £200 switching bonus for eligible customers. To qualify, customers must switch an account with at least two Direct Debits or standing orders, pay in £1,000 within 45 days and make at least five debit card payments. The account also comes with access to a 7% regular saver, fee-free overseas spending and, for many customers, a £250 interest-free overdraft.

NatWest's Reward account is also offering a £200 switching incentive, according to MoneySavingExpert. The website said customers must switch from a non-NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland or Ulster Bank account, pay in at least £1,250 and log into the bank's mobile app. The account also offers cashback and access to a linked regular saver paying 5.25% variable interest.

MoneySavingExpert also highlighted Barclays' latest switching deal, which offers a £200 bonus for eligible customers who open an account through the bank's app, pay in £2,000 and complete a qualifying switch.

The consumer website said Santander's Edge account is currently offering £180 to switchers. Customers must pay in at least £1,500 and maintain at least two Direct Debits, while the account also offers cashback on selected household bills and access to a linked savings account.

Nationwide's FlexDirect account features a £175 switching bonus, alongside 5% interest on balances up to £1,500 for one year and a linked regular saver paying 6.5% variable interest.

MoneySavingExpert also included the Bank of Scotland Classic account, which offers a £175 switching payment for eligible customers. The website noted that the account has fewer ongoing perks than some rivals but requires less effort to qualify for the bonus.

Important Considerations

According to MoneySavingExpert, eligibility rules vary between providers and many deals are unavailable to customers who have previously received switching bonuses from the same banking group. The website also warned that most offers require customers to complete a full Current Account Switch Service transfer, meaning the old account is closed and payments are automatically moved to the new provider.

MoneySavingExpert advised consumers to check all terms and conditions carefully before applying and to consider factors such as customer service, account fees and long-term benefits rather than focusing solely on the upfront cash payment. A full comparison of the latest switching deals and eligibility requirements is available on the MoneySavingExpert website.
