Health authorities have issued an urgent recall for several batches of freeze-dried fruit products sold across the UK after potential listeria contamination was detected. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has warned consumers to immediately check their pantries for affected items.
Affected Products
The recall involves multiple brands of freeze-dried fruits, including popular snack options and ingredients used in cereals and baking mixes. Products were distributed through major supermarkets and online retailers.
Health Risks
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious illness, particularly in vulnerable groups including pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms may include fever, muscle aches, nausea, and diarrhoea.
What Consumers Should Do
- Check product batch codes against the FSA's published list
- Return affected products to place of purchase for full refund
- Do not consume any suspect items
The FSA has assured the public that retailers are removing all affected stock from shelves, and an investigation into the source of contamination is underway.
