The new Toniebox Lite, a compact and simplified version of the popular children's audio player, has been released at £59.99, making it more than 40% cheaper than the bestselling Toniebox 2, which costs £104.99.
The device comes with Rubie the Creative Tonie to get started and is compatible with the complete Tonies library, so families who already own a Toniebox won't need to buy a separate collection of Tonies. The Toniebox is a screen-free audio player that pairs with collectible figures, each containing hours of music and stories. There are more than 250 Tonies characters to collect, from Disney and Pokémon favourites to Peppa Pig, Bluey and Paw Patrol, priced at £14.99 each.
Features and Design
Designed for children to use independently, the ears of the Toniebox Lite can be pressed to adjust the volume, while a tap or tilt skips, fast-forwards or rewinds. Youngsters can also record their own material to play through the Tonies app. The Toniebox 2 offers extra features with its higher cost, including a Dynamic Light Ring, Sleep Light and Sunrise Alarm, as well as a soft fabric shell, which the Lite lacks. Covers for the new model are available to buy separately.
Parent Reviews
One parent commented: "My kids are obsessed with this Toniebox! They actually enjoy listening the stories and they love dancing to the songs. The best part it that you can buy their favourite characters and add to the box for even more fun." They added: "The design is easy and simple to use and the material is very sturdy. Overall this definitely something my kids really enjoyed and made our routine even more fun!"
Another described it as a "great screen-free wind down activity", adding: "This is a new part of my daughter's bedtime routine and she's loving it. Very happy with our purchase." A third shopper praised: "We absolutely love our Toniebox Lite. My two-year-old can work it all on her own, carry it around easily, and plays with it for hours. We are also excited for its portability for car rides."
One reviewer felt it had room for improvement, commenting: "Took a star off because I wish it lit up as the regular Toniebox does. The lights help him drift to sleep, and unfortunately, this one does not have that." Another wrote alongside a five-star rating: "It's so easy for my daughter to use, and she loves listening to her favourite stories and songs. It keeps her entertained while also encouraging her imagination and independence. Definitely one of our favourite things for kids."
For other options, the Yoto Player 4th Gen is available to pre-order for £119.99, with a Yoto Mini 4th Gen for £89.99. The Echo Dot Kids on Amazon has a full price of £89.99 but is often reduced to as little as £29.99. The Toniebox Lite is available on the Tonies website.
