Tesco expands Clubcard Rewards partners to over 500

Tesco has announced a major expansion of its Clubcard Rewards scheme, effective today, Wednesday, October 14. The supermarket giant has increased its Rewards partners from 13 to more than 500, giving loyalty scheme members what it describes as "the biggest ever choice of partners they can collect points with."

New partners include Nike, Boden and Ticketmaster

Shoppers with a Clubcard can now earn points on spending outside Tesco at fashion brands such as Nike and Boden, or when buying tickets through Ticketmaster. The supermarket has partnered with commerce marketplace Valuedynamx on the new Clubcard Points Platform.

Points will vary by partner, with some offering more than the traditional one point per pound spent. For example, Nike is offering four points for every pound, turning a £100 spend into 400 points that can be converted into a £4 voucher.

Boosted value through doubling and tripling

Clubcard users can double or triple their points with selected Rewards partners. A £4 voucher could become a £12 discount at restaurants including PizzaExpress when tripled.

Lookfantastic is offering up to six points for every pound spent. When doubled with a Rewards partner, this could give Clubcard members a potential Reward value of a £12 spend with easyJet Holidays.

Loyalty director welcomes expansion

Tesco's Group Loyalty & Membership Director Shama Wilson said: "We're really excited to be giving Clubcard members even more ways to collect points on more brands they already know and love."

She added: "Today marks the biggest expansion of the partner brands where customers can collect Clubcard points, with more than 500 brands now available across fashion, beauty, home, travel and more. As we head into Black Friday and Christmas, customers can collect points on spending they're planning to do and turn those points into rewards that matter most to them."

How the Clubcard scheme works

Tesco has said the Clubcard app remains the best place for members to track points earned and vouchers held. It is free to download from Google Play and the App Store.

First launched in 1995, Tesco Clubcard is used by more than 24 million households, making it one of the biggest loyalty schemes operated by a UK supermarket. Members earn one point for every £1 spent on groceries in stores and online, or one point for every two litres of fuel bought at a Tesco petrol station. Every £1 spent on Tesco Mobile is worth one point, while every £4 spent on a Tesco credit card is also worth one point.

A minimum of 150 points is needed to be converted into a voucher worth £1.50. Many shoppers build them up before using them to get money off their weekly shop or with one of the supermarket's Rewards partners.

The expansion of Rewards partners to more than 500 comes as many shoppers across the UK prepare for Christmas, with Clubcard members now able to earn more points when buying festive essentials, whether gifts or food.
