Tesco is offering drivers 8p off per litre of petrol or diesel when they spend £60 or more in store, with vouchers available until Sunday, August 31.
The vouchers, which represent a five percent saving at the petrol station, will be valid for use until Sunday, September 6. They can be redeemed at any of the supermarket's more than 500 petrol stations nationwide.
How the Tesco fuel voucher works
Anyone who spends £60 or more in store will receive a voucher that saves five percent at the pump. The maximum discount available is £10, with a minimum spend of £1 needed. According to the supermarket, the average driver filling up between 35 and 45 litres of fuel will likely save between £2.80 and £3.60.
The voucher must be presented at the kiosk, meaning it is not available for those who choose the pay-at-the-pump option. Only one transaction per coupon is allowed.
Exclusions and restrictions
Forecourts located across Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man are excluded from the fuel deal, alongside Extra stores that sell Esso fuel and unmanned petrol stations.
Several items do not count towards the minimum £60 spend in store, including lottery tickets, e-top-ups, savings stamps, postage stamps, prescription medicines and infant formula. Purchases made at any Tesco café, tobacco kiosk, opticians, phone store, concessions, Travel Money, Tesco Bank, and any online Tesco Whoosh order are also excluded.
Fuel prices on the rise
The money-saving deal comes as the cost of fuel at UK petrol stations has soared this year due to the conflict in the Middle East that began when the US and Israel invaded Iran in February 2026. At the start of the conflict, there was a sharp rise in the price of crude oil sparked by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which led to a knock-on effect on prices across the globe.
According to the latest RAC figures, a litre of unleaded currently costs an average of 161.59p UK-wide and 183.28p at motorway service areas. It is expected that these prices are not likely to rise anytime soon. However, diesel is a touch pricier, coming in at an average of 183.25p and 202.91p at motorway service areas, with the RAC advising that this is "likely to rise" even further in the future.
While Tesco's 8p per litre off fuel can certainly help save a bit of money when at the pumps, it's still worth shopping around to ensure you are not missing out on the cheapest prices. Based on the latest RAC figures, the supermarket giant is currently the second cheapest for petrol, with Asda claiming the top spot at an average of 158.6p per litre. Tesco is close behind with an average of 158.7p per litre, followed by Morrisons in third place with an average of 158.8p per litre and then Sainsbury's at an average of 159.1p per litre.
