UK shoppers are on alert after product recalls were issued across the country again this month. The recall notices in September include beer, olives, and handwash.
The recall notices are issued when a product could cause harm to consumers. This could be for many reasons, from hazardous contamination to mislabeled allergy information.
This month's recalled products have been compiled into a list below, letting you see if anything in your home could be dangerous. People are advised that if you have one of the following products, you should return it to the point of purchase for a full refund.
Bags from Asda and a Primark purse
The Front Pocket Xbody Bag, Opp Tote Bag and Black Nylon Phone Bag present "a serious chemical risk due to excess phthalates", according to the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS). Customers are asked to "stop using the product immediately" and return it to Asda, where a full refund will be provided.
The OPSS added: "The products present a serious chemical risk because they contain excessive concentrations of Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP). Phthalates may harm the health of children, possibly causing damage to the reproductive system. The product does not meet the requirements of the REACH Regulations 2008." The product codes are 5059206286959, 1100260834001 and 1100258939001.
Primark's Disney 101 Dalmatians Zip Purse, a faux leather coin purse sold in UK stores between March 2026 and June 2026, was recalled after phthalates were found above permitted levels. Primark said: "We've learned the product does not meet our usual high safety standards. The product has been found to contain phthalates above permitted levels, and this may cause harm to health and the environment. Please stop using the product immediately. Please return the product to any of our Primark stores. It is not necessary to show proof of purchase. The returned product will be fully refunded."
Food recalls over allergens and listeria
Waitrose Rhubarb Crumble is being recalled because it contains oats (gluten) which are not declared on the label. The affected product has a use-by date of 19 August 2026, and customers are warned not to consume it but to return it to a Waitrose & Partners branch for a refund.
Tesco is recalling Tesco Finest Caesar & Smoked Bacon Coleslaw, as some packs may contain Tesco Finest Four Cheese Potato Salad. The incorrect product contains mustard which is not declared on the label, posing an allergy risk. This refers to the 270g packages with a use-by date of September 4.
Sainsbury's Inspired to Cook by Sainsbury's Pitted Black Olives have a 'do not eat' warning issued by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) because Listeria monocytogenes has been found. The FSA said symptoms can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea, with rare severe complications such as meningitis. The recall covers packs with 'use by' dates of September 6, 7 and 10 2026.
Waitrose Essential Pitted Black Olives in 120g packs with use by dates of September 13, September 18 and September 27 2026 were also recalled over listeria monocytogenes. Customers are urged not to eat them and to return them to a Waitrose store for a full refund.
Other safety alerts
The Love to Dream Sleep Machine, a portable white noise sound machine with a night light, has been recalled because the lithium-ion battery may overheat during charging, posing a fire risk. Only machines with certain date codes sold between January 2, 2025, and September 3, 2026, are affected.
Aldi recalled the Groovy Baby "I Spy a Fly" Book, sold between September 2024 and August 2026, because the fly's wings on the last page may detach when pulled, posing a choking hazard. Aldi advised: "Immediately stop using the recalled books, pull the wings off the last page of the book and cut each wing into four pieces. Take a photograph of the 16 pieces, on or adjacent to the last page of the book (for refund purposes), before disposing of the wings in a bin that is inaccessible to children."
Baylis & Harding Oud, Cedar & Amber 1L Hand Wash Refill was recalled due to a microbiological risk after testing identified the presence of Pluralibacter gergoviae. Sainsbury's said affected batch numbers 6210A and 6211A are printed on the base of the pouch, and the products have been recalled from end users by Baylis and Harding, Amazon, Ocado, Sainsbury's, and Waitrose. Consumers should stop using the product immediately and return it to their place of purchase.
Waitrose Essential Unsweetened Oat Drink is being recalled due to a breakdown in temperature control, which may make the 1 litre packs unsafe to drink. The affected packs have best before dates between August 14 and October 29, 2026, and were purchased between September 2 and September 21, 2026. The FSA said point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores selling the product, and customers who have bought it should not drink it but return it to the store for a full refund.
