Next recalls Mint Velvet wedge sandals over injury risk

Next has issued a recall notice for certain pairs of women's shoes after it was found that they pose a risk of injury. The affected product is the Mint Velvet Raya Espadrille Wedge Sandal, sold by Next in models Y79431 and Y79434.

Risk of falls and injuries

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) said: "The product presents a risk of injuries as the footbed can become detached from the wedge heel during use." It added: "If the footbed unexpectedly became dislodged during use, the user could fall, leading to injuries. The products do not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005."

The OPSS said: "The product has been recalled from end users by Next. Next has contacted consumers who purchased the heels directly." Owners are advised to stop using the product and follow the instructions sent by Next to arrange for a refund or replacement.

Related Tesco mug recall

Just last week, another recall alert was issued, cautioning customers about a mug from Tesco. The F&F Glass Latte Mug has a risk of burns and injuries as it may shatter during use. The OPSS said: "The product presents a risk of burns and injuries as it may shatter during use. If the glass mug breaks while containing a hot beverage, consumers could be burned by the hot liquid or injured by sharp glass fragments."

The OPSS added: "The product has been recalled from end users by Tesco. If you have purchased the product, stop using it immediately and return it to any Tesco store for a full refund. No receipt is required." The mug was on sale from September 2025 to August 2026.

Tesco said: "As a precautionary measure, Tesco is recalling all batches of its F&F Home Glass Latte Mug purchased between September 2025 to August 2026 inclusive. This is due to a manufacturing issue that may cause the glass mug to break during normal use, posing a risk of injury. No other Tesco products are affected by this recall. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused."
