Newcastle fashion brand TUTTI has seen its jewellery worn by Dame Kristin Scott Thomas in the new John Lewis Christmas advert, a development the team only discovered when the commercial premiered earlier this week.
The campaign, titled 'Gloria and Pickles', launched with a three-minute advert following Gloria, played by the Oscar-nominated and BAFTA-winning actress, and her childhood gift, Pickles the dog. The festive tagline is “Don’t give up on giving,” and the story explores how the fear of not finding the “perfect gift” can overshadow the simple pleasure of giving something thoughtful.
A North East Connection
The advert is soundtracked by Sam Fender's cover of the Rolling Stones classic “You Can't Always Get What You Want,” with pupils from John Spence school and musicians from Easington Colliery Brass Band also featuring. The North East link continues as Dame Kristin, known for films like The English Patient and Four Weddings and a Funeral, wears jewellery from TUTTI, based in Harbour House, North Shields, with a concession in Fenwick in the city centre.
Dame Kristin is seen wearing both a TUTTI necklace and bangle in the advert. Founder and creative director Kate Rose shared the news with staff on Tuesday, commenting: "We’ve had such an amazing year launching our womenswear collection and opening three new stores, but this tops our wildest dreams!"
Delight for the Brand
Rose added: "At last year’s team meeting I even said ‘all we’ve got to do next year is be in the John Lewis Christmas ad’ so we must have manifested it!" The advert marks a significant moment for the brand, which had no prior knowledge of the placement until seeing the commercial for the first time.
