Nationwide has pledged to keep all 605 of its branches open until at least the beginning of 2030, delivering reassurance to members of Britain's largest building society.
Branch Promise reaffirmed
The commitment forms part of Nationwide's "Branch Promise," reaffirmed in November 2025. The society stated: "Our branches are a valued part of the UK's high streets."
All locations will remain operational until early 2030, though Nationwide cautioned: "There may be circumstances beyond our control that mean we have to close a branch."
Virgin Money branches retained
The building society will also retain all 91 Virgin Money branches following its £2.9bn takeover completed in April 2026.
Customers can continue choosing how to bank—whether in branch, through the app, or over the phone.
Network coverage
The extensive branch network spans from Aberdeen to York, covering major cities and market towns across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
