National Lottery search for Tameside winner of £1m prize
National Lottery search for Tameside £1m winner

The National Lottery is searching for a ticket holder in Greater Manchester who has yet to claim a £1 million prize, with only two months remaining before the claim window closes.

Operator Allwyn confirmed the winning ticket was purchased in July in Tameside, a borough covering Ashton-under-Lyne, Audenshaw, Denton, Droylsden, Dukinfield, Hyde, Mossley and Stalybridge.

Deadline for the claim

Under National Lottery rules, winners must submit their claim within six months of the draw. The ticket holder must come forward before 00.00 GMT on December 28.

Andy Carter from Allwyn said: "The winning ticket could be tucked away somewhere completely ordinary while its owner has absolutely no idea they are a millionaire."

He added: "We'd love to find the person we've been looking for and turn this search into a celebration. So, if you bought a ticket in the area, dig it out, check those numbers and help us find Tameside's missing millionaire. It could be you."

Winning numbers and other unclaimed prizes

The winning numbers were 5, 8, 26, 33, 39, 42, with a Bonus Ball of 54.

The National Lottery said 11 millionaires had been created in the last four weeks, including in Wednesday's draw, when a single-ticket holder secured the £2.8 million jackpot, while two other players won £1 million each.

A separate search is under way for a ticket holder in Wales, where a £12 million ticket purchased in Rhondda Cynon Taf in June remains unclaimed.

In July, the National Lottery said it was looking into a woman's claim that the winning ticket belonged to her but had been thrown into the bin. Kath Main, 46, said she threw the ticket away after being told at a Londis in South Wales that it was not a winner, later realising her regular numbers, which she had used for the last 20 years, had hit the jackpot.
