Marks & Spencer has confirmed that its popular White Chocolate & Raspberry Cookies have been discontinued, prompting an outpouring of disappointment from shoppers on social media.
Shoppers react with dismay
Customers took to Reddit last week to question whether the treat had been removed from shelves. One shopper wrote: "Have M&S discontinued the White Chocolate and Raspberry cookies? A bakery lady told me today and I feel so disheartened!"
Many others shared their upset, with one user commenting: "Gutted, they were absolutely amazing." Another added: "Absolutely criminal these were top tier." A third pleaded: "NOOOOOOO ! Bring them back right now ! What a silly decision why take away a great selling item like this - the fact they went so quickly is a guide to them being in demand!"
Cookie's rise and fall
The cookies gained popularity earlier this year after being unveiled on M&S social media pages, with some describing the treat as "to die for". Despite this, the retailer has now confirmed they are no longer available.
In a statement, an M&S Spokesperson said: "At M&S Food we are constantly innovating and refreshing our range, reacting to trends, and customer feedback. We have a great selection of cookies available in our Foodhalls including the popular white and milk chocolate - and more exciting launches to come."
"Although our White Chocolate & Raspberry Cookies are currently not available, we always listen to customer feedback when reviewing future ranges."
The product description on the M&S website had read: "You asked, we listened. Inspired by a flavour combination that proved a standout favourite in our Chunked N’ Loaded range, these White Chocolate & Raspberry Cookies are baked for the perfect balance of flavour and texture, with oats for a soft, chewy bite."
"Made with 23% smooth white chocolate and real freeze-dried raspberries, they deliver a naturally fruity burst in every mouthful, with no added flavourings."
