Meghan Markle could be considering applying for British citizenship again now that she is living in the UK, a source has claimed. The Duchess of Sussex, who married Prince Harry in 2018, was reportedly considering pursuing citizenship in Britain when she first married the prince.
However, as the royal couple only lived in the UK until early 2020 - when they quit royal duty and left for America - these plans ended. Now that the Sussex family is back on British soil, it is believed Meghan may consider becoming a British citizen once again. She would have to follow the same usual process as anyone else.

A source told RadarOnline: "British citizenship was something Meghan genuinely expected to pursue when she married Harry. At that point, she believed Britain would be her permanent home, so becoming a citizen was a natural part of building her life here."
"Everything changed with Megxit. Once Meghan and Harry established themselves in America, there was little practical reason to continue down that road. Returning to Britain changes the equation again."
"She may not rush off tomorrow to study for and sit a citizenship test, but it is something that could logically come back onto the table and be revived if Britain once again becomes their long-term family base."
Prince Harry's US citizenship stance
While Prince Harry lived in the US for six years, he did not apply for US citizenship during that time. This is despite the fact that he frequently spoke about how much he loved life in America, with the family even still keeping hold of their Montecito home despite their relocation to Britain.
When he was asked last year about whether he was going to become a US citizen, Harry said: "Am I going to become a US citizen? There are no plans to be, at this point."
It is still not known exactly why the family have moved back to the UK.
