McDonald's has finally confirmed that its popular US breakfast item, the McGriddle, will launch in the UK and Ireland from March 17. The sweet and savoury sandwich, which first debuted in America in 2003, features a sausage patty, fried egg, and American cheese between two maple-flavoured griddle cakes.
The UK version will differ from its US counterpart by using a round fried egg instead of a folded egg. Some fans have expressed disappointment over this change, noting it may signal the continued absence of breakfast bagels, which also used folded eggs.
Priced at £3.99, the McGriddle is cheaper than a Sausage & Egg McMuffin. It will be available during breakfast hours until 11am, and McDonald's has warned it is a limited-edition item, likely staying for around six weeks.
Alongside the McGriddle, McDonald's will introduce a Cadbury Mini Egg Frappe and McFlurry on March 17. Returning items include the Double Big Mac, Spicy McNuggets, and the Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry, while the Friends Meal will be removed from the menu.
