McDonald’s is launching its largest burger yet in the United States. The Big Arch Burger, a limited-time offering, will be available from March 3. It features two quarter-pound beef patties, three slices of cheese, onions, pickles, lettuce and a tangy sauce on a sesame and poppy seed bun.
The burger, described by the company as “the most McDonald’s, McDonald’s burger,” was previously tested in Canada and several European countries. It is already a permanent menu item in the UK and Ireland. Jill McDonald, the chain’s global chief restaurant experience officer, said the burger has shown strong traction in pilot markets and earned a permanent spot on the UK menu.
While the US price has not been announced, a Big Arch meal with fries and a drink costs about 12.59 Canadian dollars (roughly $9), making it pricier than most meals. The 1,020-calorie item’s availability duration in the US is unknown. McDonald’s did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The Big Arch is the latest in a series of menu changes this year, including a new hot honey sauce, the return of the Shamrock Shake, and a Valentine’s Day McNugget caviar kit. The chain also revived its Changeables Happy Meal toys in January.
Looking ahead, CEO Chris Kempczinski said McDonald’s is testing protein-packed items to appeal to customers taking GLP-1 medications like Ozempic.
