If you are already planning a trip to McDonald's this bank holiday Monday, we have good news. The fast-food giant has more than 1,400 branches across the UK and Ireland, with approximately 80% of these being franchised. This means that opening hours can vary from one location to another.
However, the majority of McDonald's restaurants are scheduled to operate as normal on bank holiday Monday, May 4, according to checks conducted online today. While most branches will be open, it is possible that some may choose to close or shorten their hours over the weekend. To avoid disappointment, customers are advised to verify the opening times of their local restaurant using the McDonald's restaurant locator tool.
For example, the McDonald's on Western Road in Brighton is open daily from 5am to 11:45pm, including on bank holiday Monday. In Leicester, the Abbey Way branch operates 24 hours a day, every day. Similarly, McDonald's on Liverpool Lord Street and Cardiff Newport Road are also open 24 hours, including on bank holidays.
This news comes as McDonald's unveils its latest menu update, featuring the return of the Big Tasty and the Double Big Tasty. The Big Tasty includes a beef patty (two for the double), cheese slices, lettuce, onions, tomato, and a smoky flavoured sauce in a sesame seed bun. As a side dish, the popular Mozzarella Dippers are making a comeback—mozzarella cheese sticks coated in breadcrumbs, served with a salsa dip.
The breakfast menu has also been refreshed with the addition of the Sausage and Egg McMuffin with Frank's RedHot Ketchup and the Breakfast Wrap with Frank's RedHot Ketchup. The Sausage and Egg McMuffin features a pork sausage patty, a free-range egg, and a slice of cheese in a toasted muffin, with the spicy ketchup. The Breakfast Wrap contains a pork sausage patty, two free-range eggs, a slice of bacon, a crispy potato rosti, and cheese in a tortilla wrap, also with Frank's RedHot Ketchup.
For dessert, the Biscoff McFlurry returns, blending Biscoff biscuit crumb with soft serve ice cream, alongside the Galaxy Chocolate McFlurry. New drink options include Raspberry Sprite Zero, Pineapple Sprite Zero, Frozen Cherry Lemonade, and the Chocolate Honeycomb Frappe.
