McDonald's £2.99 Meal Hack: How to Save Big Every Time

With the cost of a McDonald's meal often soaring to £10 or more, a savvy saving enthusiast has unveiled a clever trick to secure a meal for just £2.99, and it can be used repeatedly without limit. This little-known hack, shared by TikToker Jordon Cox, known as @couponkiduk, promises to help customers "never pay full price at McDonald's" again.

The Secret Behind the Savings

According to Cox, the key lies in a recent McDonald's receipt. By quickly filling out the survey printed at the top of the receipt, customers receive a voucher via email for a £2.99 meal. When this voucher is redeemed, it generates another receipt, allowing the process to be repeated indefinitely. Cox explained, "When you get a receipt, if you quickly fill out the survey at the top, you’ll get a voucher for a £2.99 meal to your email. When you use that voucher to get one of these cheap meals, you’ll get another receipt, so you can do it over and over again."

How to Access the Food for Thoughts Survey

The survey, called Food for Thoughts, is accessible online at mcfoodforthoughts.com. To participate, you need a valid McDonald's receipt from the last 60 days. Enter the 12-digit code from the top of the receipt and the total amount spent to proceed to the survey. Each code can only be used once and comes with an expiry date. Upon completion, a £2.99 voucher is sent, which can be redeemed by scanning the QR code, entering the 12-digit code at a digital kiosk, or presenting it to a crew member at the till.

What the Voucher Includes and Excludes

The voucher is valid for food purchases in physical restaurants only, not for delivery. It covers a selection of meals, including a Big Mac, McChicken, Quarter Pounder, six Chicken McNuggets, a Fillet-O-Fish, or McPlant, paired with medium fries or a side salad. However, it does not include a drink, so customers must pay extra for beverages. Despite this, savings are significant; for example, a Big Mac alone typically costs over £5, so the hack can save up to £7 per meal.

Regional Variations and Potential Drawbacks

In the Republic of Ireland, a similar offer exists, allowing customers to complete the survey and receive a Big Mac, Fillet-o-Fish, or Vegetable Deluxe with medium fries for €3.90. However, some sceptics have pointed out flaws in the hack. Issues include QR codes that may not scan properly on digital kiosks and the occasional unavailability of receipts, which could limit its effectiveness for some users.

This hack offers a practical way for McDonald's fans to enjoy their favourite meals at a fraction of the usual cost, making it a valuable tip for budget-conscious consumers looking to cut down on fast-food expenses.
