Manchester United are gearing up for a busy summer transfer window as they prepare for a Champions League campaign next season. Michael Carrick's side have already confirmed the departures of Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia, and have moved to sign midfielder Ederson to fill the gap left by Casemiro.
Rashford Reacts to Transfer Blow
Marcus Rashford has removed Barcelona from his Instagram bio following reports that the Spanish club will not trigger their £26 million buy option for the United star. The 28-year-old spent last season on loan at Barcelona, registering 14 goals and 14 assists in 49 games. Spanish publication Marca reports that Barcelona have decided against the deal after agreeing to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United. Gordon, three-and-a-half years younger than Rashford, impressed Barcelona manager Hansi Flick with his defensive capabilities. Rashford is set to return to United after the World Cup unless another club agrees a deal.
Target in Contract Talks
Leeds United have announced they are in discussions over Karl Darlow's future. The goalkeeper is nearing the end of his contract and has reportedly attracted interest from Old Trafford. Darlow, a Wales international, has spent three years at Leeds and became first-choice in the second half of last season, making 22 appearances. However, Leeds are reportedly in the market for a new shot-stopper. Darlow could serve as an experienced backup to Senne Lammens at United, with Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana not part of the club's plans.
United's retained list confirmed the departures of Casemiro, Sancho, and Malacia. The club have already addressed the midfield void by striking a deal for Ederson. Carrick's team are also linked with other targets as they aim to strengthen for the Champions League.
