Lloyds Banking Group is closing 26 physical branches in October, affecting Lloyds Bank and Halifax locations across the UK. The closures begin with the Lloyds branch in Rochdale on October 1 and continue until October 29.
Why branches are closing
The banking group, which also owns Bank of Scotland, said the way customers choose to bank is constantly changing, which can make it necessary to close or relocate branches. More customers are turning to online and digital banking options.
The bank said: “When making changes to our branch network, we always look to understand the impact on our customers – including how they continue to access banking services.”
Alternative banking options
The group added that customers have various other ways of accessing its services. A Lloyds spokesperson previously told MoneyWeek: “With access to one of the biggest branch networks in the UK, alongside local banking options like our Community Bankers, the Post Office, PayPoint, plus our leading apps and 24/7 messaging service, we offer our customers more choice and convenience than ever before.”
Customers with Lloyds, Halifax or Bank of Scotland can also use branches across the three brands for everyday banking.
