Jet2 has officially implemented a new policy that reduces the timeframe for sending holiday documents from 28 days to 14 days before departure. The change, now in force, has prompted the airline to urge passengers to verify their flight details within 24 hours of travel to ensure accuracy and avoid potential scams.
Background of the Change
Previously, Jet2 sent all travel documents to customers 28 days in advance. However, due to ongoing uncertainties surrounding the Middle East conflict and other operational factors, the airline has adjusted its procedure. Travel companies have been proactively contacting customers to inform them of the update.
Customer Concerns and Clarification
Several passengers expressed confusion and suspicion upon receiving emails about the change, fearing they might be phishing attempts. Jet2 has recently warned about fake social media accounts targeting travellers. One passenger posted on X: “@jet2tweets Hi, I’ve just received this email apparently from Jet2 saying I will now get my holiday documents 14 days before my holiday departure instead of 28, is this true or is it still 28, I’ve a feeling this was a spam email though.” Another added: “I had the same email. Flying on 25 May with Jet2.” A third traveller echoed: “I’ve just had the same email!”
Jet2 responded on X, confirming the email’s legitimacy: “Hi there, thanks for reaching out. Yes we can confirm that you will receive your documents 14 days before departure. Should you require any further assistance, then please feel free to send us a DM.”
Official Guidance from Jet2
According to Jet2’s official advice, at 10 weeks before departure, the airline takes the outstanding balance payment and sends a confirmation. Then, at 14 days before departure, customers receive a final confirmation with travel documents attached, including booking confirmation, flight voucher, accommodation voucher, cruise voucher (where applicable), transfer or car hire voucher, and ATOL Certificate. Passengers are reminded to print all vouchers and certificates.
Flight Schedule Changes and Check-In
Jet2 acknowledges that flight schedules may occasionally change due to operational or technical reasons beyond its control. The airline states: “We always aim to operate our flights at the scheduled time of departure. Sometimes we may need to make changes or provide alternative carriers or aircraft and cannot always notify you of this in advance.” Passengers are encouraged to monitor their email and text messages for updates and to update their contact details via the Manage My Booking section.
Jet2 also reminds travellers of their obligation to review their flight summary within a 48-hour window prior to departure. Specifically, the airline says: “Please be aware that it is one of our Terms and Conditions that you re-check your flight summary 72 to 24 hours before departure.” Additionally, passengers should consult the latest travel information on Jet2’s website at least 12 hours before take-off.
Airport Arrival Recommendations
Jet2 recommends arriving at the airport at least two hours before the scheduled departure time, noting that check-in desks close 40 minutes before departure.
