Jet2 has clarified its luggage allowance rules for group bookings after a customer asked whether baggage weight can be pooled among passengers. The airline confirmed that groups can combine their individual allowances as long as the total weight does not exceed the overall limit and no single bag weighs more than 32kg.
The clarification came in response to a social media query from a passenger with a group booking for ten people, each entitled to 22kg of checked luggage. The passenger asked whether one person could be slightly over if others were under. Jet2 replied: 'Yes you are able to pool your luggage providing you do not go over your overall weight limit and no one bag weighs more than 32kg.'
The airline added that if one bag is slightly over but others are under, the group will still have room within the overall allowance and will not be charged. According to Jet2's website, any baggage exceeding the total weight allowance will be carried subject to availability and an excess baggage fee may apply.
Jet2 also reminded passengers that all UK departure airports are cashless, so excess baggage fees must be paid by credit or debit card. The airline advises travellers to allow extra time for check-in if they plan to travel with excess baggage.
This announcement follows Jet2's recent unveiling of new routes from summer 2027, including connections from UK airports to popular Spanish and French holiday destinations. The airline currently operates flights to Alicante, Lanzarote, Krakow, Gran Canaria, Marrakech, and Naples.
