Iceland shoppers are raving about a £2.75 product they claim is 'better than the chippy' and can be cooked at home in under 10 minutes. The supermarket's own-brand Lamb Doner Grillsteaks, sold in packs of four, have earned an average rating of 4.5 out of five stars from eight online reviews.
Described as having 'doner-style seasoning', the grillsteaks can be pan-fried or grilled from frozen in about 10 minutes, or cooked in an air fryer for up to eight minutes at 180°C. One shopper said: 'Wish I could give these six stars. A really good doner taste to the lamb burgers, went perfectly with a pitta bread and salad.'
Another customer commented: 'Great for a quick cook with a nice doner taste. Goes great with mayo or chutney.' A third added: 'We love these products, the taste is amazing. Don't ever change it because it's OK as it is.' The only non-five-star review was a three-star rating with no explanation.
However, shoppers should be aware that each cooked steak contains 1.2g of salt, contributing to the NHS-recommended daily limit of 6g for adults. High salt intake can increase the risk of high blood pressure, heart attacks and strokes.
