Home Bargains Bakery 69p Cheese Twist Tops M&S and Waitrose

Home Bargains has long been a favourite for bargain hunters, but its in-store bakery is often overlooked. A recent taste test of six items, costing under £6 in total, revealed some surprising results, with a 69p cheese twist beating offerings from M&S and Waitrose.

The maple and pecan plait, at just 59p, was a standout, described as identical to Lidl's version with a sweet centre and flaky, buttery pastry. However, the Biscoff croissant disappointed, with a bread-like dough and minimal filling. The pain aux chocolats, a twin pack for 99p, were average, lacking the crispiness of artisan pastries.

The double chocolate cookies, five for an undisclosed price, were a highlight, soft and chewy with a crunchy edge, rivalling M&S. Mini doughnuts were forgettable, dry, and coated in powdered sugar rather than granulated. Overall, Home Bargains offers good value, but quality varies by item.
