Fans are furious after the HeritageLive festival series was cancelled, leaving ticketholders in a refund limbo with both the festival and ticket provider SeeTickets refusing to take responsibility. The festival, which was set to run at Audley End, Englefield, and Sandringham Estates from August, featured a star-studded lineup including Christina Aguilera, Lionel Richie, and Janet Jackson.
Festival Cancelled Due to Poor Sales
Organisers announced the cancellation, citing 'far lower than average' interest and poor ticket sales. A last-minute investment fell through, making it impossible to proceed. The statement described it as 'heartbreaking news' and noted rising expenses and a saturated festival market as contributing factors.
Refund Confusion and Blame Game
Fans who bought tickets through SeeTickets reported being caught in a loop. Kevin Doyle, a TikTok user who purchased a ticket for Christina Aguilera, claimed he was told by SeeTickets that funds had already been paid to HeritageLive and that SeeTickets had no authority to process refunds. The email directed customers to contact HeritageLive directly, but when Kevin tried, the email bounced back. Other ticketholders received only an automatic response from HeritageLive.
HelsBels commented on social media: 'I'm fuming, less than 2 weeks and cancelled. I should be seeing Richard Ashcroft on 24th, cannot get in touch with either see tickets or heritage live as you mentioned, all social media and contact details shut down. Someone owes me £200.' Another user, DeeMcG1, added: 'me I have Janet Jackson tickets booked flights hotel and car hire to get there too its an absolute shambles both blaming each other for refunds.'
Ticketmaster Offers Automatic Refunds
In contrast, Ticketmaster told Metro it is issuing automatic refunds within 14-21 days. An email from Ticketmaster stated: 'The Event Organiser has cancelled the performance of HERITAGE LIVE: The Streets + Special Guests on 7 August 2026. You’ll receive an automatic refund on your original method of payment within 14-21 days, depending on your bank’s processing time.'
However, SeeTickets reportedly urged fans to contact the festival. The festival’s edited cancellation post advised ticketholders to contact their bank or credit card provider for a Section 75 claim or chargeback if they encounter difficulties.
Festival's History and Lineup
HeritageLive, which would have marked its 10th year, had booked Christina Aguilera for a one-off UK headliner, alongside Lionel Richie, Janet Jackson, Eric Clapton, Ricky Martin, Craig David, Blue, Sugababes, Olly Alexander, Ronnie Wood, and Soul II Soul. Previous headliners included The Who, Sir Tom Jones, Robbie Williams, and Mariah Carey.
Metro reached out to SeeTickets and HeritageLive for clarity but did not receive a reply at the time of publication.
