The Halo HotSpot Cleaner, which uses heated water to remove stains, has proved a practical solution for muddy paw prints, according to Daily Star Assistant Editor Richard Brown.
Brown, who tested the device at home with his dog Chester, said the cleaner improved his life by tackling marks on carpets and light-coloured furniture. Previously, his under-sink cupboard held half-used bottles of stain remover that only disguised the paw prints, but the HotSpot consolidated everything into one unit.
How the HotSpot Works
The device requires filling its water tank, adding the provided detergent, and letting it operate. It heats water to 60C, or 100C on the steam setting, to lift difficult stains. Users spray the warmed water, use one of several brush heads to clean, and then use the hose to suck up debris and dirty water.
Brown noted the water tanks are large enough to avoid frequent refills, and the device features intuitive fingertip controls. He added that while he had not yet tested it on red wine spills, its performance on carpet and furniture marks suggested it would hold up well.
Price and Alternatives
The HotSpot retails at £119.99 on Amazon and the Halo website. Alternatives include the Vax SpotWash Mini Duo, currently discounted from its retail price of £99.99 on Amazon, and the more expensive Shark CarpetXpert, priced at £249 on Amazon.
Brown said he was initially unsure how much use he would get from the device but found the relatively low price point compared to rivals reduced the commitment. With Christmas gatherings planned at his house, he expressed confidence that the HotSpot would handle any spills, calling it a true Christmas miracle.
