Tyson Fury is solely focused on Mariusz Wach and refuses to be drawn into talk about a fight with Anthony Joshua.
The former two-time heavyweight champion will take on the Polish veteran behind closed doors in Thailand on Friday night - with all the proceeds going to charity. Fury ended a year-long hiatus back in April when he faced Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Fury would go on to cruise to a points victory, with Joshua watching ringside. The Morecambe brawler immediately called for a showdown with 'AJ' - who refused to step in the ring and face off with his long-time foe. But, just days later, the pair finally signed to fight and are expected to meet in November.
But they must first get through their respective tune-up fights first. Joshua will trade leather with unknown heavyweight Kristian Prenga over in Saudi Arabia a day after Fury's fight in Thailand. But as anticipation grows over the all-British dust-up, the 'Gypsy King' refused to be bogged down by talks of a meeting with his adversary.
Fury on Staying Active
Speaking at the pre-fight press conference on Wednesday, Fury admitted: "He (Wach) will give me some good rounds. I am not looking for a one round knock-over, I am looking for some good rounds, and that's what I intend to do. Whatever fights come up next, I just want to stay sharp. I said it at the beginning when I wanted to come back... I don't want to just have one fight and be waiting around for something that might not happen. If I am boxing, I am boxing. I do not want to be out of the ring for years on end, I have been out of the ring for seven of the last ten years."
"I want to stay active, and I want to box. Whoever, it might be, I do not care who it is. I have made a lot of money in my career and I have done very well, so it's not about money. I am boxing because I want to stay match fit. And if I am going to be a pro boxer, I may as well be one. Once I get past this fella here, whatever fight happens next, we will go into that and I won't be letting six or seven months pass by, I want to stay busy and active."
Fury Rates Wach Higher Than Prenga
Out of the two main event fights this week, Fury is confident his opponent is the much tougher test and would knock Prenga out with ease. "Listen, this fight is a dangerous fight. Mariusz (Wach) is the same size as me. Same weight as me. He has had the same amount of fights as me, if not more," he explained.
"He has been in there with the most elite level champions out of two generations. Let me tell you, Mariusz Wach would put his fist through Anthony Joshua's opponent, whoever he is... Mr Pringles. This man will knock him spark out. He's a real fighting man. But, we are not interested in other people."
"This is my show and I am not interested in what's going on elsewhere with Joshua or Deontay Wilder or Oleksandr Usyk, or anybody. This is about me and Mariusz, it's not about anybody else. What happens beyond Friday is none of my concern. No interest. What will be will be and what won't, won't. And if it's to happen, and God willing it does, great, but if it doesn't - also good."
