A cat owner with four felines has shared a simple fabric softener hack that removes pet hair from clothing in seconds. The trick involves mixing fabric conditioner with water in a 1:3 ratio and spraying it lightly onto garments.
After spraying, a clean microfibre cloth is used to gently wipe the fabric, lifting the hair away. The conditioner neutralises static electricity, which causes pet hair to cling, making removal easier and more effective than a lint roller alone.
The method works particularly well on sofas, duvets, and thicker items like hoodies and coats. The owner recommends testing on a small, hidden area first, especially on delicate fabrics, and avoiding over-wetting the garment.
This hack has become a go-to technique for quickly freshening up clothes before leaving the house, especially when wearing darker colours. It also helps salvage items that have been left near cats or on furniture.
