Dad floored as son finds $40 gift cards in cheap charity shop jacket
Dad floored by gift cards inside £6 charity shop jacket

A father and his eight-year-old son from the US have gone viral after a $7.99 (£5.50) Goodwill jacket turned out to contain four loaded Subway gift cards.

The son had spent months hunting for the perfect leather jacket, checking every Goodwill they visited and often coming up empty. While on a weekend trip to Flagstaff, Arizona, the pair stopped at their favourite store. After about four minutes, the boy ran to his father shouting, "Papa! Papa! I found the one! I found the one!"

A surprise left in the pocket

The father bought the jacket and the family carried on with their holiday. When they reached their holiday home, the boy went upstairs to try it on. Soon he was hollering "Papa, papa" at the top of his lungs. He came down with four gift cards, each holding $10 (£7.50), all loaded - a total of $40 (£30) in Subway gift cards.

"So he's totally excited and offers to buy everyone dinner and now I'm absolutely thrilled that means Papa haven't got to cook tonight," the father wrote in the Reddit post, which dated back to 2022 but has been circulating online this week.

The post quickly drew warm responses from other users.
