A prominent brewery has been compelled to issue a second, expanded safety alert over fears that some of its party-sized beer kegs could rupture or even explode. Loophole Brewing Co has recalled its five-litre Pacific Ale Party Keg, citing a dangerous fault discovered in production.
Expanding Safety Alert and Critical Batch Details
The initial recall, issued on January 8, targeted specific batches. These were identified by the date markings Pkd 13/10/25 BB 13/10/26 and Pkd 15/10/25 BB 15/10/26. However, the situation escalated with a new warning released last Friday. The company now states that all date markings up to and including a packaged date of 3 December 2025, with a best before date of 3 December 2026, are affected.
The root cause is a potential secondary fermentation process inside the keg. This fault causes excess pressure to build up, which can lead to the containers leaking, rupturing, or exploding violently. Loophole Brewing Co confirmed the beer contains excess alcohol and carbonation, posing a serious risk of illness or injury if consumed.
Where Products Were Sold and Immediate Action Required
The affected five-litre party kegs were sold exclusively at Costco warehouse stores across several Australian states and territories. These include New South Wales, Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), and Western Australia.
The official recall notice delivers a stark instruction to consumers. "Consumers should not drink or open this product, and should dispose of it safely," it states. The company is urging anyone in possession of the keg to contact them directly for specific safe disposal instructions and to arrange reimbursement.
Official Advice for Consumer Health and Safety
Authorities have underscored the seriousness of this product safety failure. The notice adds a clear health directive: "Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice."
This marks the second time Loophole Brewing Co has had to alert the public about this specific product, indicating an ongoing quality control issue. Consumers who have purchased the Pacific Ale Party Keg from Costco are advised to check the date markings immediately and follow the recall procedures without delay.
