Barclays warns of temporary balance display issue

Barclays has issued a notice to its customers warning that their most recent balance information may not be current, while providing an explanation for the discrepancy. The banking giant confirmed its app is presently encountering a "temporary issue".

What Barclays told customers

Barclays, which serves millions of banking customers throughout the UK, stated: "If your balance hasn't been updated and you're seeing the 'Last updated' message under one or more of your accounts, this is because of a temporary issue with our system."

"Try logging in again after some time and it should update automatically. If you need to check your latest balance urgently, please use Online Banking or contact us."

Impact on app functionality

The bank confirmed it will show the latest balance information available, though this might not reflect any recent transactions. "The rest of your app should work as normal."

The Barclays application is available for download via the App Store or Google Play. Users will require an Apple iPhone, iPad, or an Android mobile device, alongside their debit card and PIN (for those with a Barclays current account), plus their mobile phone number.

Additional requirements for mortgage holders

Mortgage holders with Barclays will additionally need photographic identification and their 10-digit mortgage account number, which begins with a 9.
