Barclays has provided clarity on important account rules that affect its customers, particularly regarding debit card expiry and replacement timings. The bank outlined key schedules that account holders should be aware of.
Card Expiry and Replacement
A customer recently contacted Barclays via social media with a query about their bank card. They asked: "My debit card expires 06/26. When am I likely to receive my new card?" Customers can view their bank cards through the Barclays app by tapping on 'Your cards' on the home screen, just below the account balance. There, all registered cards, including both Barclays and Barclaycard, are displayed, and changes can be made from that section.
In response to the customer, Barclays confirmed: "All debit cards are sent out 5 weeks before the current card expires. It can take up to 7 working days to arrive after it has been sent." The bank also encouraged the customer to get in touch via direct message regarding the matter. If you forget your PIN for your Barclays card, you can view it through the mobile app or via online banking.
£200 Switching Bonus
Barclays is currently offering a £200 incentive for customers who switch to a Barclays Bank Account through the Barclays app. To qualify, you must complete a full switch that includes at least two direct debits. You also need to deposit a minimum of £2,000 into the new account. Barclays will notify you by text once all qualifying criteria have been met, and will pay the £200 within 45 working days. The payment will be deposited into your new account.
The offer is exclusively available to new customers. However, if you already hold a Barclaycard, mortgage, or savings account with Barclays, you may still qualify. In such circumstances, you should delete the Barclays app from your device, then reinstall it and register as a new customer before applying for the account.
